The Crime Prevention Officers of the Morristown Police Department are responsible for most public relations activities for the department.  They are tasked with organizing community programs such as rape prevention, home safety prevention and auto theft prevention.  They also teach classes about bank robbery survival for bank employees, and set up displays at schools for their career day events.  They speak with elderly people and educate them on home security and personal safety.  They put on child ID programs, which includes fingerprinting and photographing children of all ages.

The Crime Prevention Officers specialize in community watch programs.  They assist citizens in setting up and starting this type of program, and guide them through the first couple neighborhood watch meetings before they take the program over for themselves.

The Crime Prevention Officers are available to speak to the public on a variety of topics.
