The Morristown Police Department's Honor Guard is made up of 21 members,
including the coordinator. Routinely, an honor guard detail can require anywhere
between four and fifteen officers. Officers of the Honor Guard train as a team every
other month.
Morristown Fire Fighter Clarke Taylor is an honorary member of the Honor Guard, acting as
the detail's bag piper. The presence of bagpipes in ceremonies attended by the Honor
Guard is very popular with the community.
The Honor Guard is an asset to the department and to the community, and is recognized
throughout the region as a professional, well trained unit. The Honor Guard
participates in police funerals, parades, and other functions as needed. Honor Guard
personnel of the Morristown Police Department also assist other police agencies in the
training of their own Honor Guard units. The Honor Guard takes great pride in their
contribution to the department and community.
