Configuring
Outlook 97 for Windows
Outlook uses the Microsoft Exchange settings. You can use the
Inbox setup wizard for this. However, that will not be covered
here. To set up Microsoft Exchange, you will need to go into the
Mail and Fax control panel.
- Press the Start button.
- Select Settings.
- Select Control Panel.
- Double click on the Mail and Fax icon.
- Press the Add... button.
- Select Internet Mail.
- Press OK.
- Give the account a name. This can be anything, as it is
used to identify the account on your computer.
- Fill in Name: with your name as you would like it
to appear on your email.
- Fill in Organization with LCS.NET
- Fill in E-mail Address which of the form <Internet
ID>@lcs.net (e.g. user1234@lcs.net).
- Fill in Reply Address which of the form <Internet
ID>@lcs.net (e.g. user1234@lcs.net).

- Click the Servers tab.
- For Outgoing Mail (SMTP): put mail.lcs.net.
- For Incoming Mail (POP3): put mail.lcs.net
- Select Logon Using:.
- Enter you Internet ID (e.g. user1234 or userx123) in Account
Name:.
- Enter your password in the Password: location. If
you leave this space blank, it will ask you each time to
enter a password.

- Select the Connection tab.
- Select the appropriate connection type for your computer.

- Click OK.
